Built for Marine Environments
Marine generator service demands more than garage-variety diesel know-how. Salt corrodes. Vibration loosens. Engine rooms compress everything into tight, hot, humid spaces. And regulators — the Coast Guard, ABS, DNV-GL, flag states — require documented work performed to specific standards. Our marine generator practice has served commercial operators across the Port of New York and New Jersey for years, from tugs and ferries to offshore support vessels and commercial yachts.
Vessel Types We Service
- Commercial tugboats — line haul and harbor assist, both for fleet operators and owner-operators.
- Ferries & passenger vessels — scheduled SOLAS-compliant maintenance with minimal service window impact.
- Offshore supply vessels (OSVs) & platforms — crew boats, supply, and fixed platform generator service.
- Commercial yachts & charter vessels — Phasor, Northern Lights, and Onan marine service.
- Fishing vessels & working boats — rebuilds and emergency service timed to off-season or between trips.
- Dredges, barges, and workboats — heavy-duty applications with specialty rebuilding capabilities.
Standards & Certifications
| Standard / Authority | Scope |

| DNV-GL | International class society standards for commercial shipping |
| SOLAS | Safety of Life at Sea for passenger and cargo vessels |
| NFPA 110 | Emergency and standby power systems |
Dockside & Shop Service
Marine generator repair is usually a choice between dockside service (we come to the vessel) and shop service (the unit comes off and to our Brooklyn facility). We handle both. Simple repairs, routine maintenance, and most diagnostics happen dockside. Major rebuilds, rewinding, and precision machining happen in our shop, with full-load testing before the unit returns to the vessel.
Corrosion, Cooling & Common Marine Failures
The typical marine generator we see failed due to a cooling-system issue, winding insulation breakdown from salt/humidity, or a control fault following a wet engine-room event. Our standard marine rebuild includes winding replacement with marine-grade VPI insulation, full raw-water cooling circuit inspection, and corrosion-resistant treatment of exposed electrical components.
